The view towards "The George" pub in Alstonefield, just a gentle stroll away from your Derbyshire holiday cottage.
The lane leading from Alstonefield cottage to Milldale.
Alstonefield is a quiet picturesque
village set in the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. It
nestles in the hills between Dovedale and the Manifold Valley and is an ideal
centre for walking, cycling, touring or simply relaxing in the beautiful Derbyshire
countryside.
Sleeping 2 people, 1 Church
Lane is a traditional, tastefully furnished semi detached stone Derbyshire
holiday cottage located in the heart of the village, providing a cosy retreat
for a couple wanting to get away from it all for a break.
Dovedale is about 10 minutes walk down the lane and there are so many wonderful
and varied circular walks from the door you could quite happily abandon your
car for the week upon arrival. The holiday cottage is about 200 yards from
‘The George’ which is a popular pub with walkers and is now establishing
itself as a fine dining venue as well, so again no need to wander too far!

As well as the diversity of walks on offer, cycling is also popular with cycle hire available on both the Tissington and Manifold Trails (along disused rail tracks) a few miles away. The nearest towns are Ashbourne and Buxton both 6-7 miles away, they are both very interesting, historic Derbyshire market towns still holding weekly outdoor markets as well as good antique shops and a wide range of other retailers, including supermarkets.
Chatsworth House is a magnificent country house with wonderful gardens well worth a visit, as is Haddon Hall and Biddulph Grange all within easy travelling distance. Alton Towers is likewise only about 30 minutes away if theme parks are more your thing!
